A new step was taken between Turkey and Azerbaijan in terms of natural gas supply. The term of the agreement on the supply of natural gas from Azerbaijan to Türkiye has been extended. Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar in his statement during his Baku visit said, “We have signed the extension of the term of the natural gas supply agreement between BOTAŞ and Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company, which will expire this year, until the end of 2030.”
Signatures Put
A signing ceremony was held on the margins of the 29th International Caspian Oil and Natural Gas Fair held in Azerbaijan within the scope of Baku Energy Week, with the participation of Minister Bayraktar and Azerbaijani Minister of Economy Mikayıl Cabbarov.
Six Year Extension
BOTAŞ General Manager Abdulvahit Fidan and Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company General Manager Lidya Salahova signed an agreement stipulating the extension of the natural gas supply agreement, which will expire at the end of 2024, until the end of 2030. Fidan also signed four other agreements with SOCAR President Rövşen Necef regarding the delivery and exchange of natural gas.
Five Agreements in Total
Minister Bayraktar, in his post about the agreements on his social media account, said, " During our visit to Baku, we took new steps to lay the groundwork for the Agreement on Cooperation in the Field of Natural Gas, which we signed with Azerbaijan's Minister of Economy Mr. Mikail Cabbarov in Istanbul last month. With the four agreements signed between BOTAŞ and SOCAR Azerbaijan’s gas will be transported to Europe and Nakhchivan via Turkey, and Turkmenistan gas will be delivered to our country. We have also signed the extension of the natural gas supply agreement between BOTAŞ and Azerbaijan Gas Supply Company, which will expire this year, until the end of 2030."
