Russian Federation – Türkiye Natural Gas Main Transmission Line
Russian Federation – Türkiye Natural Gas Main Transmission Line which enters Türkiye at Malkoçlar on Bulgarian border extends to Ankara by following Hamitabat, Ambarlı, Istanbul, Izmit, Bursa, Eskişehir route. The pipeline is 845 km.
Russia- Samsun – Ankara Natural Gas Transmission Line (Blue Stream)
Commissioned in 2003, Turkish part of Blue Stream Project gets underway from Samsun to reach Ankara through Amasya, Çorum, Kırıkkale route and merges with Malkoçlar-Ankara transmission line. Additionally, a branch pipe splits from Çorum Sungurlu to reach Düzce. Çorum Compressor Station and Durusu Main Metering Station are situated over the pipeline route.
Azerbaijan – Türkiye (Shah Deniz I) Natural Gas Pipeline
Built in order to import the natural gas produced in Azerbaijan Shah Deniz-I field to Türkiye over Georgia, Azerbaijan – Türkiye (Shah Deniz I) Natural Gas Pipeline was commissioned in 2007. Hanak Compressor Station and Türkgözü Main Metering Station are situated over the pipeline. Azerbaijan Natural Gas Pipeline merges with East Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline on Horasan and the natural gas are transmitted to the western part of Türkiye by means of this pipeline.
East Anatolian Natural Gas Main Transmission Line
Transportation of natural gas imported from sources in the east, notably Iran, is aimed by this transmission line. Commissioned in end of 2001, consisted of 1.491 km, East Anatolian Natural Gas Main Transmission line keeps Doğubeyazıt, Erzincan, Sivas and Mucur compressor stations and a main metering station at Gürbulak.
BakuTbilisi-Erzurum Natural Gas Pipeline (BTE)
Phase-I of Azerbaijan-Türkiye Natural Gas Pipeline which starts at Posof district of Kars province and which is 113 km in length and 42” in diameter was completed on 30 December 2006 and Ardahan province was also supplied with natural gas within the scope of this project.
Azerbaijan – Türkiye Natural Gas Pipeline Phase II, which starts at the end of the 42” Phase I of Azerbaijan-Türkiye natural gas pipeline project, is approximately 113 km in length and 42” in diameter and reaches towards Erzurum-Horasan direction. The concerned section was completed on 09 March 2007 and Kars province was supplied with natural gas.
Tuz Gölü Natural Gas Underground Storage Project
BOTAŞ’ storage works, prioritizing establishing and ensuring our country’s security of energy supply, are carried out with world-scale projects.
Tuz Gölü Natural Gas Storage Project (Phase I) which was started in 2011 in the Sultanhanı district of Aksaray province, was completed by the end of 2021 and the expansion (Phase II) works are still in progress.
Silivri Underground Natural Gas Storage Facility
Storage, injection and withdrawal capacities of Silivri Underground Natural Gas Storage Facility have been increased via Phase-I and Phase-II Projects. As a result of these works currently, 4.6 billion Sm3 storage capacity have been reached.
Dörtyol FSRU Terminal
Dörtyol FSRU Terminal located in Hatay Dörtyol, which has been put into operation on February 7, 2018, enables the supply of gas from different sources, countries or spot markets without being dependent on pipelines, in line with our goal of ensuring supply and system security with FSRU ships.
Ertuğrul Gazi FSRU
Ertuğrul Gazi, one of BOTAŞ' major investments and the first FSRU ship registered in the Turkish Maritime Registry, was registered in the International Ship Registry on April 3, 2021, and the Turkish flag was raised on the ship. It has been put into operation on June 25, 2021. Its length is 295 meters, its width is 46 meters and it has a 12.5 meters long draft. The vessel has a storage capacity of 170 thousand m3 of LNG, which is equivalent to 110 million Sm3 of natural gas, and a regasification capacity of 28 million Sm3 per day. Ertuğrul Gazi, which has a state-of-the-art regasification infrastructure, is one of the ships with the highest regasification capacity in the world.
Working with an environment friendly technology, Ertuğrul Gazi uses a special liquid called "Glycol Water" instead of sea water during the regasification operations. It carries out the entire operation with its own special technology without coming into contact with sea water. Ertuğrul Gazi, which can provide direct gas transfer to ships and land vehicles, also stands out with its ability to use the stored gas for its own fuel need.
Saros FSRU Terminal and Land Connection Line Project
Saros FSRU Terminal and Land Connection Line Project Construction Work was realized by BOTAŞ for the design and construction of the facility located in Edirne province, Keşan district, Sazlıdere village, Gulf of Saros for the docking of FSRUs which, with floating systems, carry out the storage and regasification of liquefied natural gas supplied by LNG carrying ships and 17 km-long onshore pipeline connection with a capacity of 28 million m3/day natural gas transmission to the national grid.
Saros FSRU Project has added a significant support to the natural gas transmission system and a new entry point in the Thrace section of the Marmara Region, where our country's natural gas-based energy production and industrial facilities are concentrated and residential natural gas consumption is the highest. With the completion of the construction of the Saros FSRU Project, our country has become active in the Balkans and the global natural gas trade and has got one step closer to its goal of becoming a gas transmission and trade center.
Construction works started on October 16, 2020. The Project was completed and the facility was put into operation as of December 2022.
TANAP (Trans Anatolian Pipeline Project)
It was planned to transport 6 billion m3/year of the natural gas from Shah Deniz field of Azerbaijan to Türkiye and 10 billion m3/year to Europe.
The works carried out for the connection of the TANAP Line to the BOTAŞ transmission network were completed and natural gas flow to our country started on 30 June 2018. Besides, TANAP Inauguration Ceremony for European Connection was held on November 30, 2019, and the supply of natural gas to Europe has started as of 2020.
TurkStream Project
With the project, two lines, one of which is connected to the national transmission network system of our country and the other serving to transport the transit gas from our country to Europe, and each with a capacity of 15.75 billion m3, were built.
The off-shore section, starting from the city of Anapa in Russia and ending in the town of Kıyıköy in Kırklareli province, consists of two lines with a length of approximately 930 km and a diameter of 32". The construction of the pipelines crossing Black Sea was completed on 19 November 2018. The onshore section of the pipelines that will supply gas to our country and Europe were completed in 2019 and as of 1 January 2020, the gas flow to our country has started.
Compressor Stations
9 Compressor Stations were built within the scope of the investments made for the construction of compressor stations, one of the most important elements of the transmission system in order to ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas at the required pressure and quantity.
